Coral Gables Opera is a non-profit organization founded by former soprano Bella Griffith-Smith to encourage youth and adult singers and musicians to develop their talent with classical music. American Ideal is an annual concert for elementary school children in Miami-Dade County that is recorded for use by WLRN Channel 17 (PBS) during the summer.
Coral Gables Opera 2012 American Ideal VIII – 4 May @ 1st Methodist Church Coral Gables
The annual concert produced by Coral Gables Opera for broadcast on WLRN Channel 17 (PBS) in South Florida will take place on 4 May 2012 @ 10 AM in the historic 1st Methodist Church Coral Gables. The concert is free and is used to introduce Miami-Dade elementary school children to classical music and opera.
More than 600 students will hear a style of music they don’t hear at home, or with their friends. This is a cultural introduction that has encouraged young musicians to play classical, as well as contemporary music.
I invite you to join me and my friends Jean Collahuazo, soprano and David Pereira, tenor, as well as some very talented young musicians such Sage McBride (violin), Esther Chae (violin/cello) and YinJia Lin (piano).
